Meet Our Designer
Samantha Pattillo grew up in an Alaskan woodshop designing and building custom furniture with her father. After moving down south in her teen years, Samantha followed her passion for design attending the Savannah College of Art and Design, majoring in Furniture and Industrial Design. Her love of furniture took a turn outdoors when she saw an opportunity to bring much needed style to an outdated market. Working for some of the leading retailers in the US over the years, Samantha, and her partner Eric, finally branched out and started AE Outdoor – giving her distinct style and brand a place to call home.
Samantha Pattillo’s design style takes elements from many different periods. Her designs lean more modern, but are balanced with classic details appealing to a broader audience. You will find her pushing for color in her designs and adding a bit of personality in order to set AE Outdoor apart from the sea of brown that is the current outdoor furniture market.
Samantha has a very hands-on approach to design. She hand sketches all of her concepts, pulling colors and materials together on mood boards to present the concepts to her clients. Bringing the designs to life is the most time consuming part of the process though; spending weeks at a time in the factories making sure the prototypes come out exactly the way she imagined and ensuring that once a collection goes into production, the quality and consistency is the best that it can be. An exhausting job for just one woman… (just kidding, she has an amazing team of people that she relies on to help her bring it all to life).
